TRAVELING TO THE OCCUPIED WEST BANK

By Don Bryant

I arrived at the Jordan-Palestine border on March 13, 2025. Apartheid Israel’s border control can be challenging. I deactivated my social media accounts and removed apps from my phone days ago. I answered questions about my purpose for traveling – tourism, of course; where I was lodging, and when was I here last? After I got a visa, I accepted the help of a young Palestinian man to wheel my luggage out  and hail a taxi. I was the sole rider, so I paid more for a ride that is usually shared. The main road to Bethlehem was closed by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) or the Palestinian Authority (PA), so we were detoured by 30-minutes as night was falling. The driver took me to the door of the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability and Museum (PIBS) Before I got out of the taxi, he turned around and showed pictures of his wounds he sustained after he had been beaten by the IOF last year.

Plans are being arranged for travel to the Occupied West Bank again this year with a small delegation. Here’s our travel plans. Contact ohio4palestine@gmail.com for more information. Put “Visit Palestine 11/25” in the subject line.

FEEDING PEOPLE FROM CLEVELAND TO PALESTINE

We are working on making sure our local community is fed through The People’s Distro, a worker-run distribution bringing fresh food, supplies, and service to Cleveland communities. We could use your help to continue our efforts, and we’re accepting donations here.
