Empty Plates to Empty Cannons & the Fast for Gaza initiative

The purpose of the empty plates to empty cannons project in solidarity with the Fast for Gaza is to raise awareness of the intentional starvation of people in Gaza, to help raise money for our mutual aid campaign, and to encourage people to call their representatives and demand aid be let into Gaza. By joining this campaign you agree to; 

  1. Fast for one day in a way that is possible for you (e.g., sun up to sun down, food only, etc.). Take a look at the Fast for Gaza initiative.
  2. Create a video sharing your experience, encouraging others in your networks to donate and to call their representatives (please tag @cleveland.palestine on Instagram).
  3. Call your elected representatives and demand they put pressure to allow aid into Gaza. 5 Calls makes this super easy!
  4. Donate to Ashraf’s campaign. In case you missed it, Ashraf is a 20-year-old aspiring nursing student in Gaza who has brought clean water to more than 1,000 families so far. Read more about him in the Sunbird Tribune! Donate here.

My name is [NAME], and I’m part of [ORGANIZATION], talking to you from Cleveland, Ohio. Today, I am fasting along with thousands across the globe as part of the Fast for Gaza initiative and the Cleveland Palestine Advocacy Community empty plates to empty cannons project. 

As I speak, millions in Gaza are being intentionally starved by the Israeli occupation with the most vulnerable, children and the elderly, already dying as a result of this war crime. Many human rights organizations have warned of an impending humanitarian crises in Palestine for decades due to the 75 plus year occupation and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. But the need to get food into Gaza has never been more urgent. 

So today, I plan to take a few actions. First, I am fasting. Secondly, I will be donating to the mutual aid campaign for Ashraf’s clean water program in Gaza, and finally, I am calling my elected reps to demand that the U.S. end military aid to Israeli war crimes and that food be let in to Gaza immediately.
